After breakfast at the hotel, you will embark on a sightseeing tour of Bangkok's most famous temples. Your first stop will be at Wat Traimit, also known as the Temple of the Golden Buddha. This temple is renowned for its impressive five-and-a-half-ton solid gold image that is over 900 years old. You will then visit Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of the Dawn. This iconic landmark is one of the most well-known temples in Bangkok and offers a stunning view of the city.
Next, you will visit Wat Po, which is the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok. This temple is famous for its Reclining Buddha (Phra Buddhasaiyas), the largest single Buddha image in Thailand, and is also the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. Upon pickup from your hotel, we will travel north to the Mae Tang area with a brief stop at the local market in Mae Malai. We will then proceed to a small riverside elephant camp where the elephants spend their time socializing with the few trekkers brought here and roaming to the river. At the camp, you will spend around 2 hours with the elephants and participate in their morning bath (bring a swimsuit!) and learn how to care for these lovely animals. Additionally, you will learn how to make traditional elephant medicine from natural ingredients and how to make a natural elephant scrubber from forest vines. Following the elephant camp, we will enjoy lunch before embarking on a trek through lush forest to a jungle waterfall where you can shower under the cooling cascade of water. We will then trek out of the jungle to the rafting camp where we will board the white water rafting boats for a 5km paddle down the Mae Tang River. In the wet season, this stretch of water can have some big rapids! After white water rafting, we will transfer to waiting transportation and be driven back to Chiang Mai where we will be transferred to the hotel. Overnight in Chiang Mai.
